For the first time in Laurelwood's 83 year history, we will not be able open camp this summer. Simply stated, it is heartbreaking. Camp is my happy place. I met many of my closest friends there - more than 30 years ago! At camp, you learn to be independent, confident, compassionate, and creative. You learn the importance of teamwork and how to be a good leader. You learn the true meaning of friendship, that everybody matters, and that you are enough just the way you are. And I'm proud to say that all of those skills + values are still taught and celebrated at Laurelwood every summer. Some of you experienced the magic of Laurelwood with me so many years ago, and understand exactly how I'm feeling. Others never had the opportunity to experience all that sleepaway camp has to offer, but have probably heard enough of my stories to know that it is a very special place.
Now more than ever, Laurelwood needs our help! This is a unique opportunity – not only to support me and a place that means so much to me, but also to help make sure that we are able to open our doors and welcome kids back stronger than ever in 2021! No amount is too big or too small and every dollar donated will be matched 50%!
